The Slow Bastard!...

I have concluded the mapping of the route. Considering we are taking the original route from Toronto towards Ottawa, Stephen proposed it would make sense to start at the closest point from our route, and then continue along the original route to complete the loop.

If we decide to do so, looks like the best starting point will be Denbigh, or Plevna.

From there, we can decide to go East, or Northwest. If we go east, we follow the same direction of the Mad Bastard Route. If we go Northwest, we will go against the MBR route. I would prefer to go East, but that will be a decision of all the Zeppos that will participate on this ride.

I will now look for places to stay (campgrounds and/or motels).

If we start in Denbigh, we can stay at the Swiss Hotel and kiss Karen again!...

  1. So, what about this:

Day 1 (September, Friday 18th) - Ride from Toronto to Denbigh
We spend the first night in Denbigh, at the Swiss Hotel, after riding from Toronto there. We can have a relaxed evening and enjoy a good meal, or we can stay at Bon Echo Provincial Park and share the berries with the Bears!...LOL.

Day 2 (September, Saturday 19th) - Denbigh (Vennachar Junction), Plevna, Ompah, Snow Road Station, Elphin, Maberly, Bolingbroke, Westport, Perth, Port Elmsley, Smith Falls, Kilmarnock, Merrickville, Kemptville (Start of Extra Loop), Winchester, Chesterville, Finch, Monkland, Maxville, and stay around St.Isidore.

Day 3 (September, Sunday 20th) - From St. Isidore to Stewarts Glen, Fiskes Corners, McCrimmon, Vankleek Hill, Hawkesbury, Grenville, Fassett, Gatineau, Sainte Cecile de Masham, Lac des Loupes, Ladysmith, Shawville, Portage du Fort, Castleford, Renfrew, Eganville, Rochefort, Wilno, Kaszuby, Combermere, Hardwood Lake, and back to Denbigh. Stay there again, and plan to Return back to Toronto the following day, or continue the route back until we decide to rest, maybe around Bancroft (There is, again, Bon Echo Provincial Park.

Day 4 (September, Monday 21st) - Return to Toronto.

    Ideas or thoughts?...

  2. Further investigation on details about Ontario Provincial Park camping facilities, looks like most of them are closed at the time we are travelling, leaving us little choice but to stay in Motels.

I've got a freind in the calabogie area, maybe I could ask him about private campsites?

  6. Dates are fast approaching...Looks like staying in motels is becoming more realistic, as camp grounds seem to be scarse and most of them are closed for the season...

  7. Checked the weather, temperatures could dip to 5 overnights, so I think motels will be fine
